Split into two distinct sections (the Village and the Centre), East Kilbride has much to offer its
residents. From the bars and restaurants of the Village, to the shopping and entertainment which can
be found in the Centre, all moods can be catered for.

First and foremost, a list of things-to-do in East Kilbride cannot continue without looking at the
Centre. Whilst the Village may be the historical heart of the town, the Centre is the modern, beating
heart. This massive undercover shopping district, which combines six previously separate malls
under one roof, is not only Scotland's largest undercover shopping complex but is also home to an
almost indescribable amount of things:
• Firstly, there are over 200 different retail outlets offering everything from high street brand
names to local produce.
• Secondly, the Centre also boasts its own ice skating rink, cinema, public library, hotel and
bingo hall.
• Thirdly, the Centre also houses Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, a major employer in
East Kilbride.

For those with a more laid back idea of activities, the Village offers a large selections of bars and
restaurants. With the oriental styles of Chow's, diners can sample some fantastic Chinese food then
move onto the restaurant's own cocktail bar. Or some may fancy a more traditional Scottish fare
which can be found at the Bothy at the Byre, owned by the famous G1 group. Perhaps patrons may
fancy a drink at the Montgomerie Arms pub, which first opened its doors in 1719.

As with all of the Central Lowlands, East Kilbride offers fantastic public transport links so other
towns and larger cities like Glasgow are easily accessible. However, there is not only cosmopolitan
living to be found in East Kilbride. Calderglen Country Park, James Hamilton Heritage Park and a
vast selection of golf courses can be found in and around this New Town.
