Lyra Celtica come to the East Kilbride Arts Centre on Saturday 21st January.
Lyra Celtica, with existing members Mark Canning and Frank McGuire have now been joined by Jim Divers and Sean O'Rourke, 2 original and founding members of the JSD Band.
Lyra Celtica have been performing traditional music and song for nearly 10 years. Winners of the Anne O'Brien Tribute Stage Award in 2005, remaining members Mark Canning and Frank McGuire continue to add their unique blend of rythym to the band's sound.
The JSD Band became Scotland's most successful folk-rock act ever, selling thousands of albums worldwide with EMI Records, touring Britain, Europe and the USA doing concerts, TV and radio with the likes of David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars, and sharing bills with acts such as Status Quo, Sly and the Family Stone, Lindisfarne, Lou Reed, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, and The Average White Band. The late, great John Peel, who wrote the sleeve notes for their 2nd album, was among their many admirers.
